If you want to follow this spicy chocolate gingerbread recipe you will need to gather together the following ;
INGREDIENTS
200g/7oz molasses sugar
4 medium sized eggs
50g/2oz plain chocolate, chopped
75g/2.5oz unsalted butter or baking margarine, cubed
4tbsp plain yoghurt
225g/8oz self-raising flour, sieved
25g/1oz cocoa powder
3tsp ground ginger
1tsp mixed spice
METHOD
Preheat the oven to 180C, 350F, Gas4.
Grease and line a 9" square baking tin.
Melt the chocolate and butter together in a heatproof bowl over a pan of simmering water.
Stir in the yoghurt.
Whisk the eggs and the molasses sugar together until well combined and smooth.
Pour the chocolate mixture into the egg/sugar mixture and stir well.
Sieve the flour, cocoa powder, ginger and spice into a large mixing bowl.
Make a well in the centre of the dry ingredients and pour in the liquid ingredients.
Carefully fold together until well combined.
Pour the mixture into the prepared tin and smooth the top.
Bake in the centre of the preheated oven for about 45 minutes until firm to the touch.
Remove from the oven and leave to cool in the tin for 15 minutes.
Carefully turn out onto a cooling rack.
Slice into squares and serve while still warm from the oven or store in an airtight container.
