To make this yummy recipe for chocolate marzipan loaf you will need ;
INGREDIENTS
4oz/120g/0.5cup unsalted butter
5oz/150g/0.75cup muscovado sugar
2 eggs
3tbsp cocoa powder
5oz/150g/1.25cups self-raising flour
4.5oz/130g marzipan
4tbsp dark chocolate chips
METHOD
Preheat the oven to 180C, 350F, Gas 4.
Grease and line a 2lb/900g loaf tin.
Cream the butter and sugar together in a large mixing bowl until soft and fluffy.
Beat the eggs and add bit by bit to the mixture beating well.
Sieve the flour and cocoa powder in the mixture and stir until well combined.
Chop the marzipan into small squares and put a handful to one side and the rest into the bowl.
Set aside 1/3 chocolate chips and put the rest into the bowl.
Stir well and pour the mixture into the prepared tin evening off the top with a knife.
Sprinkle the remaining marzipan and chocolate chips over the top.
Bake in the centre of the oven for 45-50 minutes until firm to the touch.
Remove from the oven and leave for a few minutes.
Turn the loaf out onto a cooling rack.
Serve while warm or store in an airtight container.
This chocolate marzipan loaf is especially good while still warm from the oven.
