Make a dessert that is a bit different, try this chocolate and pear crumble.
INGREDIENTS
750g/1.5lbs ripe pears
Rind and juice of one lemon
60g/2oz golden caster sugar
165g/5.5oz self raising flour
15g/0.5oz cocoa powder
125g/4oz unsalted butter
METHOD
Preheat the oven to 200C, 400F, Gas 6
Peel and core the pears and cut into slices.
Place into a oven proof pie dish.
Finely grate the lemon rind and sprinkle on the pears with the juice of the lemon.
Sprinkle a tbsp of the sugar onto the pears and set to one side.
Sieve the flour and cocoa powder into a bowl.
Cut the butter into small squares and using your fingers rub into the flour until well combined and resembling bread crumbs.
Stir in the rest of the sugar.
Sprinkle the crumble topping evenly over the fruit.
Bake in the centre of the preheated oven for about 50 minutes until the pears are tender.
Serve hot with chocolate custard or vanilla ice cream.
