If you would like to try this chocolate banoffee pie recipe you will need to gather together the following ;
INGREDIENTS
4oz/120g unsalted butter or baking margarine
10oz/300g double chocolate chip cookies, crushed
3 ripe medium sized bananas
1 large can condensed milk (397g)
1 tbsp cocoa powder, sieved
300ml carton double cream
Small amount of milk chocolate to decorate
METHOD
Grease and line a loose bottomed cake tin.
Gently melt the butter in a large saucepan.
Add the crushed cookies to the saucepan and stir well to combine with the melted butter, if the mixture is too soft add more crushed biscuits, if too dry add a little more melted butter.
Press the butter/cookie mixture firmly to the base of the cake tin and cool in the fridge.
Slice the bananas and lay evenly over the cookie base, place back in the fridge.
Using a clean saucepan heat the condensed milk and bring to the boil while stirring continuously.
Simmer, still stirring until the milk thickens and turns a toffee colour.
Remove from heat and stir in the cocoa powder.
Add 6 tbsps of the double cream and stir well.
Allow to cool then spoon over the pie base and return to the fridge.
When completely cold and set firm carefully remove the pie from the tin and place on a serving plate.
Whisk up the remaining cream.
Slice the pie and serve with the cream.
Grate the milk chocolate over the servings to decorate.
